The following year, he was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual CoSIDA convention in Orlando, Florida.

During his tenure, Bourret’s office garnered national recognition as part of the inaugural Football Writers Association "Super 11" Team in 2009, an award that highlights the top sports information departments across the country for excellence in media relations for college football. His accomplishments include editing over 100 award-winning publications, with a significant focus on Clemson football.

A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Bourret has also made substantial contributions to college basketball as a color commentator since the 1980-81 season. He celebrates a remarkable milestone of broadcasting his 1,000th Clemson basketball game on February 10, 2015. This showcases his long-standing dedication to Clemson athletics and solidifies his position as one of the most esteemed commentators within the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Bourret has co-authored notable works such as "Basketball for Dummies" and has penned several books chronicling Clemson football history and significant events in college sports. Even in retirement, he remains actively involved in Clemson athletics, continuing to provide commentary and serve in various roles within the department.
